Waterlands Bonaire: who is it for?

Waterlands Bonaire is a small scale, individually-owned resort, consisting of only 23 cottages. It’s located on a private peninsula in a lagoon, with an open channel to the Caribbean Sea and the Bay of Bonaire.

The cottages are privately owned; the lush tropical garden, the surrounding beach, the tropical swimming pool with bar and surrounding decks, its 7 private docks and all other communal facilities are exclusively owned by the Owners Association.

All cottages are brand new - you will be the very first owner! - and well-built. Their Indonesian inspired architecture offers complete privacy and real tropical atmosphere. The high quality of finishing, both in workmanship and comfort, allows you to relax in luxury.

Prime target buyers are ‘free spirits’ from all over the world. This results in a unique private environment!

Building of this high end small scale resort has already started, and will be completed at January 2008 at the very latest.

Purchase prices, including all inventory, range from approximately US$ 165,000 (1 bedroom) to US$ 355,000 (2/3 bedroom).

 

Waterlands: a detailed description

Waterlands is located on a private peninsula in a lagoon, with an open channel to the Caribbean Sea and the Bay of Bonaire. Boat ride from Waterlands several small docks to open sea is only 2 minutes!

The resort is situated just south of Kralendijk, the capital of Bonaire. It’s a small peaceful town, with many nice restaurants, a beautiful sea promenade, historical buildings and shops. To get there by car will take 3 minutes (parking included!) and approximately 5-10 minutes if you decide to walk. All major dive and snorkel sites, scattered along the whole leeward coastline are all in close vicinity.

East, north and west coast of the peninsula are bordering the lagoon. The south border walls in the entire resort property, consisting of …m2 in total.

Fourteen of the total of only 23 cottages are water- and beachfront, featuring superb views and the ultimate ‘living on a tropical island’ feeling! The remaining eight cottages are tucked away in the lush tropical garden.

All cottages are privately owned on a privately registred parcel of long lease land. All remaining land is commonly owned by the Waterlands Owners Association, thus guaranteeing ever lasting privacy and upkeep.

Communal features include:
• Large kidney shaped swimming pool with small barfacility and waterfall over rocks. Around the pool on different hights and individually enclosed by overflowing tropical vegetation are decks with lounge chairs
• Rendering pool
• A large gazebo offers shade and a place to meditate, or celebrate, or maybe enjoying a slide show presentation
• Both pool and gazebo are located in the center of the peninsula, visually completely hidden by lush gardens. Privacy is one of Waterlands many features!
• The complete waterfront of the peninsula features a beachfront with 7 small docks and many gazebo’s. Imagine strolling along the beach in the warmth of the late afternoon … Or star gazing at night … The beach is accessible directly from all waterfront cottages and via 3 different communal walkways connecting to the looproad

• Cottages in the garden area are connected by walkways. A stroll through this garden area is peaceful and relaxing
• Waterlands main and only entrance is an automatic wrought iron gate, which after intercom permission, opens up to the reception building, parking lots, maintenance and laundry facilities and one-way loop road. Cars are permitted, but Waterlands is primarily a pedestrian presinct, barefooted or not
• All land borders of the peninsula are walled (… high), thus generating absolute privacy. Outside of thias wall is of natural stone; the inside is coloured and features small niches and indirect lighting
• The lush tropical garden is another of Waterlands many features. Water is a precious commodity in our arid climate. Waterlands gardens are watered with re-used waste water via an automatic irrigation system
• Garden, walkways and looproad are lit at night with low-height indirecting lights

Waterlands knows 3 different types of cottages: 1, 2 or 3 bedroom cottages. All are built in the same style, all feature high quality of finishing, both in workmanship and comfort. Differences are in size and lay-out.

One bedroom cottages measure 99 m2 floorspace, 10 m2 including outside shower area and roof projection. Two or three bedroom cottages are equal in size, measuring 154 m2 floorspace, 10 m2 including outside shower area and roof projection.

One bedroom cottages consist of nice size livingroom almost completely opening up to the roofed porch, as well as to the private outside shower area: designed for tropical outdoor lifestyle! It furthermore features a semi-open fully equipped kitchen, spacious bedroom and casual luxurious bathroom.

 

Ultimate outdoor living has been achieved in the design of Waterlands two bedroom cottages: the livingroom and large porch are barrierless connected. The larger part of the porch roof is conventionally built; the two corners feature a semi-open lattice-work, genarating sun to enter in playful lines. The fully equipped kitchen is separated from the livingroom with a bar/countertop. It connects to the laundry room, standard fitted with a full automatic washing machine and shelves. The truly king size masterbed- and bathroom has it all! A king size bed with 4 post netting, custom-made cupboards, open bathroom, with two freestanding porcelain sinks in concrete top, two half-circles, one being the ‘hanging’ toilet, the other being the oversized shower (with oversized 20cm Ø showerhead), with wooden seat and soap niche, to name just a few. Prefer to shower outside under a starry sky? That’s possible two! The master bedroom opens up to the large outside shower area, covered with anthracite colored vulcanic tiles, niches in the large half-circular wall, rain-shower, and stone ornament with light. Like the master bedroom, the guest bedroom also opens up to the porch. It’s a spacious bedroom with its own bathroom. The guest bedroom’s toilet is also accessible from the living room.

A variation to the two bedroom cottage is the three room cottage. The large size guest bedroom of the 2-bedroom type, has been reduced in size, still featuring a separate bathroom. Instead of the laundry and with the gained space of the smaller guest bedroom, a study has been added. Here’s a choice for you!
